The Man Who Over-praised His Father

  1. There was a man who praised his father’s virtues before everybody.
  2. My father is compassionate.
    He never kills nor steals.
  3. He speaks earnestly and gives alms.
  4. Such a virtuous father!
    Hmm…
  5. My father is even more virtuous than yours.
  6. What are your father’s virtues?
  7. Undefiled as my father was, he gave up completely his sexual desires when he was young.
  8. f your father had done so, how could he have brought you into the world?
  9. You are such a fool!

Explanation:

There are those ignorant people in the world who want to extol the merits of others without knowing how to be realistic and get ridiculed instead. These people are just like that stupid man who wanted to praise his father but turned out to speak fatuously.
