From ending to beginning*

By Stephanie Chin

stepping on petals after the rain
arrived at the end of a blue song
Ending is the beginning
of a Koan.

Walking out, I am here
with no return. Who are you ?
Solo traveler against the wind
Brushes away dusts on earth
with sleeves
and let go of mundane
fame and wealth
like clouds drifting

in the sky above the tree top
new leaves in colors impermanent.
Uncatchable
is purity in the scent
of an incense. Sits in solitude
here and now

is a frown gone
with an unfinished poem.
Letting go of everything
called you
and awaken from a dream
As the Zen Master hits
with a wooden stick
in drowsiness, you wake up
from an ending to a beginning
