Planting Boiled Sesame

  1. There was a hardworking paddy farmer in a village.
  2. One year, he tried to plant some sesome. Though he is not an expert in planting sesame, he had a bumper harvest.
  3. Paddy can be eaten after being cooked, is the sesame the same too?
  4. So he grabbed a handful to eat.
    Arhhh! These raw sesame seeds taste terrible!
  5. He friend.
  6. Try to boil the sesame seeds first before you eat.
  7. Hmm......
  8. He starts stir-frying the sesame seeds.
  9. The stir-fried sesame seeds taste better.
  10. Therefore, the foolish man planted the fried sesame seeds so that he could reap a tasty crop.
  11. Strange! Not even a leaf has sprouted.

Explanation:

There are many Buddhist practitioners who wrongly accused the sāvaka ‘hearers, disciples’ as being selfish since he lacks the motivation of the great compassion (mahãkaruna) of the Bodhisattva, and ultimately the only legitimate way of Buddhist practice is the Bodhisattva path. Theravāda tradition resisted to it.

As far as the fundamental liberating knowledge of the four noble truths is concerned the Buddha and his sāvaka are equal. Thus, let’s not denounce the sāvaka, for which we purposely commit an unwholesome action which leads us to an evil states of existence and suffer endlessly.
