Imitating Others Blindly

  1. There was a man who wished to please his boss.
  2. How could I obtain the favour of the boss?
  3. If you want to please your boss, you should imitate the boss’s facial expressions.
  4.
  5. Hmm…… I think I should blink my eyes like him.
  6. What is wrong with your eyes? Are your eyes sore, or are they hurt by the wind? Why are you blinking like that?
  7. Nothing is wrong with my eyes. Sir! My eyes are not sore, nor are they injured by wind. It is because I wish to please you, so I am blinking as what you did.
  8.
  9. What! How dare you! Get out of my sight!
  10. Bang! Ouch! Arr!......
  11.

Explanation:

There are people, before realizing the Buddha’s teaching, like to imitate the Buddha having a supreme knowledge, but they don’t practice the Buddha’s teaching. Or there are people, by knowing only a bit of dhamma, they preach in a topsy-turvy manner. As a result, they fall into the evil states of existence, just like the foolish man who blinked as the boss did in an attempt to gain his favour.
