"Ren Hai Deng"– the first Buddhist magazine published in Hong Kong

Master Taixu had specifically written a verse for the magazine to serve as an encouragement – “The deep dark night, the ocean of people, light house be guidance, other shore as attainment.”

After the establishment of Tung Lin Kok Yuen in 1935, Lady Clara Lin-Kok felt that cultural publications constitute an effective medium for the dissemination of Buddhism. In 1935 Tung Lin Kok Yuen thus became the new publishers of “Ren Hai Deng” (starting from volume 2, publication no.13) - the first Buddhist magazine in Hong Kong, edited by the esteemed Venerable Tong Yi. Grand Master Taixu wrote a verse in praise of this publication – “The deep dark night, the ocean of people, light house be guidance, other shore as attainment,” and a number of highly revered Buddhist monks from that era published their articles in “Ren Hai Deng”, including Grand Master Taixu, Master Dong Chu, Master Zhu Muo, and Master Aiting. After June 1937, starting from Volume 4, Publication no.6, the editing department of “Ren Hai Deng” moved to Shanghai, where Zhi Feng was the new editor in chief, and publication was assigned to the local Si Chuk Temple. Due to political and social turmoil thereafter, “Ren Hai Deng” stopped its publication in August 1937. Altogether 4 publications were produced in Shanghai.

"Po Kok Student" Quarterly Journal

“Po Kok Student”, hosted by the Po Kok alumni, was published from 1941 to 1961. Although a school publication, its contents included reports of in-school seminars convened by Buddhist monks, Buddhist articles composed by lay experts and monastics, and news on activities organized by students, including speeches, painting and handcraft exhibitions, and Buddhist drama performances. The style and content of the Po Kok Journal reflected the early pedagogical flavour of Tung Lin Kok Yuen, which taught students to apply the teachings of the Buddha to their everyday lives.

"Lin Kok Quarterly Journal" and "Lin Kok Series"

“Lin Kok Quarterly Journal” has been published since 1995. For this publication, Buddhist scholars and experts from Hong Kong and overseas were invited to submit articles that explain the teachings of Buddhism in simple and accessible language, and respond to the changing nature of the problems commonly encountered in modern society.

Ming Pao Daily : "Ming Kok Edition"

Designed to further the dissemination of the teachings of humanitarian Buddhism, the “Ming Kok Edition” began to appear in the popular Hong Kong Ming Pao Daily newspaper in July 2006. The “Ming Kok Edition” wrote a historical page in the development of Buddhism in Hong Kong, marking the first regular appearance of a Buddhist publication in Hong Kong’s mainstream print media.
