Bodhi Journal is open to article submissions from the general public for publication in our 'Feature,' 'Academic' and 'Story and Reflection' sections, etc. Following is a brief statement regarding our submission guidelines, in addition to some recommendations:

1. Early Mahāyāna Sūtras (June 2008)
2. A Comparative Study : Buddhism and Other World Major Religions (September 2008)

(Deadlines for submission are given under the section on submission deadlines below)
Format:
Digital files are to be in 12 size font, preferably in the “Arial Unicode MS” style. Although digital word files are preferred, we shall accept printed submissions, however these must be double spaced, and preferably printed double sided. We also prefer work
this is succinct and not too lengthy - ideally, between 600 and 2500 words for English, and between 400 - 2000 for Chinese.
Detailed guidelines for each genre are as follows:
Feature articles:
For the Features section, we are at this stage particularly interested in non-academic, relatively short (600-2500 word) submissions in either Chinese or English (with a preference for English submissions).
Please note that a 'feature' or 'current affairs' article is different from a news article. A good feature article typically deals with a 'phenomena' or 'trend' that extends beyond a particular 'event', and should contain a brief analysis of, in the least, the direct causes or wider ramifications of the phenomena/trend being investigated. Remember that features are comparatively more subjective than news articles, and may in a limited way present the author's subjective experiences, perceptions and ideas regarding the phenomena in question.
Academic Articles:
Academic articles must be accompanied with an abstract of around 200 words (no more than 400). We prefer the author follows either the Chicago, Oxford or APA styles, depending on the nature of the article in question. All submitted articles must be fully and completely referenced in footnotes, endnotes or a bibliography, and articles found to contain instances of either intentional or inadvertent plagiarism shall be rejected outright.
Stories and Reflections:
This section is the most liberal, publishing both poems and prose that may be factual, fictional or symbolic. Preference will be given to articles of particularly high spiritual, literary and artistic quality.
Remuneration
A small remuneration will be given for accepted articles. Please note that, given we are a not for profit organization, our rates are below commercial standards.
