Ecosystem: You are food for me; I’m Food for You

Wong Weng Hon

The Unity in the diversity
The Ecosystem in the contigent species
The diversity in the unity
Contigent beings in the ecosystem
Interdependent and interrelated
I’m food for you
You are food for me
This is dependently co-arisen Unity

Because of Emptiness
You are contained
Because you are empty
You are contained
You are a drink
The Lord is the cup
The drink and cup are inseparable
This is the Truth of Non-duality

I breathe
You photosynthesize
The earth grips the trees
The trees reduce erosions
The forest contains the trees
The trees are contained in the forest
Without the sun and water
How could fruits grow in abundance?

Editor’s Note:

The ecosystem is a mirror of the Truth Unity or Non-duality. The Chan or Zen Masters perceive Perfection of Wisdom (Prajñāpāramitā) and Dharma Body (Dharmakāya) in the ecosystem and also in its contigent beings.
