10. THE FUTURE BUDDHA RECEIVING THE MILK-PORRIDGE OFFERED BY SUJATA

His five companions were disappointed by his rejection of extreme austerities and left him in disgust. Siddhartha stayed in Uruvela alone and continue his search for enlightenment after regaining his health and energy.

One morning, Siddhartha sat under a banyan tree. A girl named Sujata from the village of Senanigama offered him a bowl of milk rice porridge. This is a full-moon day of May when Siddhartha was 35 years old. The porridge was his last meal before enlightenment. He spent the day in a grove of sal tree and in the evening, he went to the base of a pipal tree, now known as the bodhi tree. He sat there in the cross-legged lotus posture and determined not to rise without attaining Enlightenment.
